Amey Consulting – Technology Engineer

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Technology Engineer to join our Consulting Lighting, Power and Technology team in Newcastle.

The standard hours of work are 40 Hours per week, but we offer a range of flexible working practices, including hybrid, part-time and flexible working patterns. Amey Consulting are a design partner to National Highways in the delivery of the largest and most comprehensive renewals programme they have ever launched. Through the Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) we are supporting National Highways in the design and delivery of its significant investment in operational roadside technology renewals over the remainder of the current RIS2 and future RIS3 periods. We are also providers on National Highways frameworks, including SPaTS2, OTCF and ITCF with growing consulting opportunities in the technology arena.

 

What you will be doing

Our Technology Design Engineers play an important part within the LPT Practice and alongside our client, National Highways. As a Technology Design Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to your Technology Team leads on a variety of operational roadside technology schemes and help delivery of these. Responsibilities include:

  • To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
  • Preparation of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
  • Identify design risk and hazards and communicating those with Principal Contractors via scheme safety risk management documentation
  • Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks, where appropriate, and taking responsibility for their actions
  • Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning function
  • Drive effective health and safety practices within the team

 

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Developed experience and expertise within roadside technology field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
  • Knowledge of roadside technology design processes and procedures or on-road operational and maintenance experience of roadside technology
  • An ability to produce the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
  • Experience in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Working knowledge and experience of CAD design tools
  • A can-do attitude and desire to progress and learn from peers and senior team members
  • Demonstrable capability to work in team environment, whilst also self-focused and able to work alone

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning
  • A demonstrable commitment to their plan of actions and key dates leading to successful completion of either the professional review or end point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence
